The Art
Runners are a special breed of athlete. It takes a runner to know a runner. Alison knows and loves this sport. She will listen carefully, communicate clearly, and work with you to establish reasonable goals and a timeline for achieving them. You will gain an awareness of the probable causes of your symptoms, enabling you to minimize your risk of re-injury. Whether you are 15 or 50, fast or not-so fast, beginner or veteran, Alison will go that extra mile to get you back on the road to running, healthy and pain free.
We were very fortunate during my time at Gig
Harbor to have Alison work with a number of athletes with injury/mechanical issues. Her attention to the details enabled those athletes to return to competition and correct long-standing issues. Alison makes sure she is looking for the cause of problems rather than just treating symptoms, which allows greater success and consistency of training down the road. Runners leave her care as better athletes.

*About Alison
I have been a physical therapist for 30 years. The clinics in which I worked in Palo Alto and Seattle are recognized as specialists in the rehabilitation of athletic injuries and the treatment of spinal dysfunction using expert hands-on techniques and comprehensive exercise programs. In each of these settings I was the senior clinician in charge of evaluating and treating patients with running injuries. I have taught continuing education courses to other physical therapists on the topic of lower extremity biomechanical dysfunction and its effect upon the knee, hip, pelvis and spine.
My distance running career began with my first marathon in 1979. I completed 14 more in the following ten years, including the First Women's Olympic Marathon Trials in 1984, finishing in a personal best time of 2:49:45. I have a 36:10 10K PR and a 59:45 10 mile PR. I continue to run though the competitive “baton” has been passed to the next generation.
I experienced the running boom of the 1970’s; the evolution of the running shoe from minimal to “beefy” and back to minimal again; training methods favoring long slow distance to anaerobic threshold training. I seek to balance experience with current research to provide the best care possible to runners.
Be assured that I will give you my very best effort as we work together to solve your running related problems. I look forward to meeting you and hearing your running story.
